Abstract

ABSTRACT: THE STUDY OF THE MAXIMAL KICK BALL VELOCITY (MKBV) IN SOCCER IS OF RELEVANCE FOR THE SCORE ACHIEVED IN A SOCCER MATCH. THIS REVIEW FOCUSES ON STUDIES THAT HAVE EXPLORED TECHNIQUE PARAMETERS AND INDIVIDUAL FEATURES THAT CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE MKBV. THE EFFECTS OF AGE, GENDER, LIMB DOMINANCE, PRACTICE DURATION, COMPETITION LEVEL, PLAYING POSITION, AND VARIATIONS IN THE KICKING TECHNIQUE ARE DISCUSSED. WE PROVIDE METHODOLOGICAL SUGGESTIONS THAT MAY HELP IN THE COMPARISON OF RESULTS ACROSS DIFFERENT STUDIES AND THUS LEAD TO A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE UNDERLYING FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO MAXIMAL KICKING VELOCITY.
